J under the waterfall. Where the waterfall hits the lake it was about 60 feet deep, at the rivers mouth (where we entered) it was extremely rocky and we had to be careful not to slide off and get hurt. One thing they warn you of is that this water is pretty stagnant and if you have open cuts you can get sick from some of the local parasites...yuck! Don't let it scare you though, or the chill of the water, it is something that the boys and I will remember doing together for a very long time. Although I had to trick them to go all the way out to the waterfall (:

The sacrificial hill. This region of Hawaii is very significant to the original Hawaiian culture and can still be seen today with the remnants of shrines, terraced garden plots, original walking paths, and even animal pens for their domesticated livestock--one sign said they loved small dogs...like as in it was tasty (:
