House Sneak Peak-First Floor

So at the end of June we got an email from the Scott AFB privatized housing offering us a house. During our PCS/leave we drove to Scott and dropped off the trailer and my van before renting a pull camper from Outdoor Recreation (holy crazy good deal!!) and then heading up to MN. We had the chance to swing by the house that they said could be ours...however, after talking to them once more we found out that it would not fit into our timeline with the training J would be doing in Dallas.

This could have been our house....with a built in tennis court ;)

After discussing with housing some more we were then offered this house, with the signing for it on the 3rd of August. This house is a little further down the same street, so less traffic going by, and the bus stop is still visible from the front door.

We are still lucky enough to still have some built in entertainment in our backyard for the boys.

While taking a look we ended up meeting the next door neighbors, who just happen to be from North Dakota...and were super nice! They were so nice that they offered a tour of their house, which is almost identical to the one we were offered.

A couple days later, after putting a little pressure on our housing representative, we were able to get into a vacant house about to be turned over to another family. We really wanted to take some measurements and to get a feel for the house since J will still be in training when we get back with limited time to help move. (Apparently they have some policy that they can't let us tour our own house while maintenance has the keys for it...even though they haven't worked on it at all since the last family moved out). Again ours isn't quite the same, but mostly it is just different window type/placement.

Front living room, just to the right when you walk in.
(ours doesn't have the bay window push out, just three windows side by side)

Looking straight ahead from the front door.

Stairs heading up from the front door.

Front coat closet, down the first hall as you enter, on the left.

Next to the coat closet is a half bath.

The eat in kitchen. If you walk through the open door on the right it leads back to the front living room, the door on the right is the pantry.

The eat in dinning room.

On the left is the entrance to the kitchen from the front living room, then the pantry, and then a built in desk.

View from the family room looking back at the eat in kitchen. On the right is the hallway that has the half bath and the closet. To the left you see a faux double french door to the backyard.

Turning around from the above photo you walk into the laundry room.

Which also has a second door to the backyard...perfect spot for a doggy door.

Looking to the right. All the houses also have a covered cement patio and vinyl fencing. This may be the perfect spot for a possible trampoline.

Looking to the left. They also have a lockable rear gate.

Back into the laundry room you also have access to the double car garage.

Huge garage storage area.

I'm super excited to get into this house and settled again. I'm seeing a lot of posts on FB from friends that PCS'ed after us and they are already settled in at their place....I am starting to miss my stuff...how bad is that! But if you check back tomorrow, I will show you the layout of the second floor...I guess I can keep working and reworking furniture placement in my head and on paper until then!
