Snow Day

Forgot to hit publish yesterday...

So the boys are experiencing their first real snow day today. I don't remember there being one while we were in NJ, maybe there was, but all three got to experience being at home a whole day while it snowed and sleeted. It is projected to get so bad that they practically shut down the base. Non-essential personal were sent home at 11am, J showed up at home around 12:30 trying to finish off some paperwork, and the services shut down at 12:00. It is kind of nice to get a day with J, he is leaving again for over a week this time next week, he's able to interact with the boys some while he works from home and studies some of his ACSC coursework. We've been busy playing some WiiU, watching movies and peaking out at the blustery weather from our windows. I love having them home, although I know I will be paying for it...they eat a lot and make lots of messes while home!

J is suppose to fly tomorrow, so we will see if the ramp is plowed and the location he is flying to is welcoming visitors as well, they had their share of snow and ice as well. I will probably find myself cleaning off the van so I can take my student of the month to a breakfast early in the morning and then working on getting the driveway cleared out as well. I'm glad the weekend will be here soon so the boys will actually have some time to play in the snow, its the good wet stuff so they will be excited to make snowmen and start a snowball fight or two. I was starting to get buyers remorse on picking up snow gear earlier in the season, but at least they will get some use out of it before the next growth spurt hits them again...which undoubtedly will be before next winter hits us.

The base has been pretty good about getting the out and clearing and salting the roads, so I know that when we do have to go out to the school or youth center it should be easy travel. At least the activities for tonight have been cancelled, it was going to be a long night with SOAR and Judo.
