Pumpkin Carving 2012

It's that time of year again when we break out the power tools and become artists. What, not everyone uses power tools to perform this simple task? If you really want to save yourself some time get a bucket of some sort, a drill, a saw (we used a jig saw), and your pumpkin. we like to cut out the bottoms of our pumpkins so that you have a nice flat bottom for your pumpkin to sit on and can place your candle also on a flat surface. It also eliminates the sinking and sagging that pumpkins sometimes get with their tops cut through.

J first drew a reference circle on the bottoms of the pumpkins, then used the drill to start a pilot hole for the saw to go through. He then followed his circle and then punched out the bottom.

This guy decided he just wanted to watch the next part.

The older two boys then started to take the guts out of the pumpkin.

N playing manager...put the guts in the bucket! We were able to gut 4 pumpkins in about 15 minutes. Once it was all said and done we loaded the pumpkins into the wagon and headed to a carving party at our neighbors house.

J worked with N on his pumpkin, N once again wanted a Darth Maul pumpkin.

This was M's second year taking charge of his pumpkin, he had one of his buddies assisting him, but did the bulk of it on his own.

This was J's first year taking charge of carving his own pumpkin and decided on doing a more traditional pumpkin, bit still used one of the templates. He kept asking if he had the best pumpkin ever....he was so excited that he was doing the carving on his own.

The creations made by the attendees.

An up close of Darth Maul again...super scary.

J's is the second from the right, "Jack Jr.". M's is third from the right back row, "Bones".

Have I mentioned lately how much I love fall?
