So after the roadside lunch we headed up to the Polynesian Cultural Center. It is a family friendly year round activity (think Renaissance Fair island style). There are different huts (stations) that highlight the different island cultures. They demonstrate food, music, dance, etc. and they do it in a way that is very entertaining.
These first pictures were at the Samoa station, he was hilarious! He cracked a coconut, showed us the coconut water, carved out the meat and made the coconut milk from wringing the coconut meat. He then had a boy show us how to climb the tree. We also got to taste Samoan Poi, which is pudding like substance from the taro plant, and it also included some coconut meat and fried banana.
The next pictures highlight the island of Maui. They primarily demonstrated their songs, dances, and games they play.
We then got a tour of the property from a boat.
If you think about visiting get there at noon when they open up, we didn't get to all of the different huts. They also have performances all day from all the different islands. You can also tour the BYU campus that is next door, and learn about their role on the culture and their missionary ideals.
