Great Shoes and Creating a Creative Space

As the title states I found some great shoes I just had to show you...made by Roxy and were a steal at the BX on clearance for under $20. Super comfy and have become my go to shoes to slide into when heading out the door (usually in a hurry). J calls them my slippers...they are that comfy ;) but have real soles...so they are shoes for reals!

If you are a friend on Facebook you may have seen some pics of the project I have been working on. The boys are (especially the younger two) are super creative and love doing crafts. So I have been stalking pinterest for ways to display some of their projects and to also make this area a little more fun in the house as well. Living in base housing doesn't allow use to do any major projects, like tearing down walls or ripping up flooring...but thankfully this base allows for painting and using nails/screws to hang things on the walls.

We have a half wall that separates the dining/kitchen area and the office/bonus room that has a recessed section that was just screaming to have something done to it.

So I measured the recessed part and started narrowing down what I wanted to do. J was also working on a project and was heading to a scrap metal warehouse...which worked perfectly for one of my plans. He picked up some sheet metal for me and they even cut it down to size to fit the hole.

I had him cut out a hole for the plug in and then screwed it up on the wall.

I taped around it and then painted it using blackboard paint.

First coat, you can still see some of the silver showing through.

After three coats it was looking much better.

Testing it out.

The only trouble during this step was that the paint doesn't adhere very well to the metal and required a touch up once I was done putting the frame into place.

With the white frame...and lots of caulking in the corners...not a professional job at all!

The places it needed to be touched up with paint. I had used 3M painters tape to help keep the frame in place and the paint peeled up with the tape.

Painting the frame an awesome red.

You will have to stop back to see how it all got pulled together! The boys sure are enjoying it though ;)
