On day two of our trip we decided to start our day eating some breakfast at our hotel and then made plans for driving down Scenic Hwy 1.
Our first stretch covered 17-Mile, the stretch of Hwy 1 that goes through some renowned golf courses, including Pebble Beach.
Part of Pebble Beach Golf Course on the right side of the road.
17 Mile also includes the Lone Cypress.
Traveling on Hwy1 is not for those on a tight schedule of the faint of heart. It is a beautiful drive, but is a curvy hilly road with some sheer drop-offs, and can make little boys tummy "hot" if he is playing a ds. We also found out that a stretch of Hwy 1 is closed due to a rock slide, so we stopped at an Art Cafe for a snack and some directions on how to continue.
A wall full of beautiful bird houses, loved them but not the price tags...$265 for most of them. Thought I would just take a picture instead and use it for inspiration for a possible project later.
They also had a cute little mushroom garden. It reminded me of a Fairy garden and may need to use it for ideas as well.
The cafe had a topside deck to overlook the water.
All along the Hwy flowers were blooming.
The road we ended up taking to bypass the rock slide took us up back over the hills. I think all of our tummy's were feeling "hot" by the time we were done. The road was very narrow and in parts barely one vehicle was able to take the tight switchbacks, but it had great pull offs to take pictures from.
You can't tell on the first zoomed out picture so much, but the hill sides were covered with flowers.
